Reflection
I selected this article because it focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as an intervention for adolescents with ADHD, which directly connects to the type of work I am interested in doing in the future. What I enjoyed reading most was that even when adolescents were already receiving medication, CBT still significantly improved their symptoms and functioning.
The article helped me better understand that medication alone is often not enough, and that skill-building interventions—like organization, time management, and emotional regulation—are essential in supporting this population.
In addition, the article shifted my perspective by stressing the importance of a more holistic, skills-based approach rather than relying solely on symptom reduction. It also increased my confidence in using CBT-informed strategies with adolescents, especially in school or outpatient settings, which is a theoretical approach that I gravitate toward and have used often in clinical internship.
